I'm new to this "casting" stuff as of yesterday but I'm learning fast.
As I reported earlier, I have experimented running cast capable apps,
Spotify and LocalCast, with good success. But then I noticed that my
Android phone has an overall casting control. I turned it on and the
cast icon appears

An update as of Saturday morning.
I did activate squeeze2upnp and indeed, as CommanderROR's research
predicted, the Chromecast is not found as a DLNA device. So, at least
for now, the dream of an inexpensive "real" Squeezebox is not
happening.

What attracted me to the Chromecast Audio is the digital output and
ability to handle hi-res files - just like my Touch. And it does match
the outstanding performance of the Touch through my DAC/amp. I tried the
