One other thing, a shameless plug... My old network was Netgear and
after switching to ASUS I'll never consider Netgear again. ASUS has way
better support for their line of consumer routers and ASUS support can

This last summer I upgraded my router to an RT AX86U and now on stock
firmware 3.0.0.4.386_45934. Before my wifi was pretty weak so I had an
AP to get coverage. What I've found with the new router is it covers my
whole house very well so I no longer require the AP so I didn't

Unfortunately I think the issue is with this specific router (Zenwifi
XT8) - as others with other models indeed seem not to have the issue.

I have a pair of Asus RT-AX92U with cat6 back haul and have a Touch

In the end I had to do the same thing (for two Booms) - but also for an
old wireless scale as well - so the solution of a legacy AP (separate
SSD, and mac limited to specific devices only) - was a good way to go.
Still an irritant that it is needed so I look forward to your
investigations!

I've installed an XT8 kit two days ago and had the exact same problem

As the XT8 kit is working correctly and solves a lot of other problem, I
just kept them and added a mini wireless AP
Thanks - that is currently ON for all three bands?
I did notice that Wifi Agile Mutliband was off - probably when I was
trying to get the booms to connect. I presume that should normally be
on?
I've only had a couple days with them so far...so to be fair, bit early
to be drawing conclusions ge

Just got an XT8 setup (2 nodes) and ran headlong into these issues.
Could not get 3 * Booms to connect not matter what I tried. The would
connect to wireless, get an IP (visible in the Asus Network Map) - but
would _not_ connect to LMS itself.
Eventually, I added back a legacy D-Link Access Po

Starminder,
Do you really need WiFi 6 on the 2.Ghz band? New devices should support
WiFi 6 and 5Ghz, so WiFi 6 will is be still available. To recap, WiFi6
is disabled for 2.4 GHz, but WiFi6 is enabled for 5 Ghz. I am not
having any problems with my SB Radios.

I purchased and tried the XT8 right when it came out. Spent two months
daily with tech support to no avail. The Radios kept getting dumped. A
couple of months ago I saw here where the problem was "fixed" and bought
it again. Not so much. At the same time, I saw the ET8 was getting

Last week I bought two ASUS RT-AX55 routers which support Vimesh and
Wifi6. I tested the new routers at a second location where I do not
have any problems with my SB Radios dropping from the network due to
interference from the neighbors. At home I have had problems. I set

If it helps with listing alternatives, I moved to eeros Pro for wifi
access points. The duet, controller and touch all work with them without
problem, which I was pleasantly surprised about. They are current mesh
systems. Not the latest eero 6 version but the previous.

I am looking at possibly getting the ASUS ZenWifi (CT8) which provides a
mesh network, but is not WiFi6 like the XT8 version. From readings the
various threads on the SB Radio interference problem, the issue is
related to the Wifi 6 protocols. Anyone on the forums using the ASUS

If its any help I ordered a Vonets VAR11N-300 set this up in bridge
mode, added the 2.4Ghz wifi details and disabled the hotspot function.
Then plugged it into the Touch pressed back and then selected Ethernet
and it was up and running. About £20 on Amazon;

For completeness.
POMdev did a lot of investigation on Radio & Wifi drops. This post
details the setup and what was checked.
I have two squeezebox installations, one in the country house which was
the one causing the problems that made me start this thread, and one in
the flat in town. Both of these are using ASUS ZenWiFi AX (XT8), with
the only difference that the setup in the flat only uses two nodes
instead of three.

If the problem is now Radio/Touch specific then this may be an
alternative approach

Thanks, gave it a shot, but the SB Radio got dumped in about 10 minutes
again. SB Boom(s) stay connected though.

Only the 2.4GHz settings are relevant to SB hardware player and I think
they also do not support 40MHz bonding so I think that setting should be
20MHz.

Downgrading the firmware worked, but eventually my SB Radios still got
dumped. Contacted ASUS and they had me change the following settings:
2.4 GHz
Channel bandwidth
40 MHz
Control Channel
11
Extension Channel
Below
5 GHz-1
Channel bandwidth
80 MHz
Control Channel

Can anybody screenshot known working 2.4Ghz settings?
I recently upgraded to ZenWifi and now my Duet/Touch and Radio devices
will get an IP address but get stuck on the connecting to
mysqueezebox.com screen.

You have a mesh network - which means multiple ASUS devices (e.g. router
& satellites) providing a single SSID wifi by operating in a mesh - if
the user device supports roaming then it can change AP connection (e.g.

There's quite a few threads discussing wifi issues in the Squeezebox
Radio forum, some similar to your issue of running the older SB hardware
on new wifi 6 mesh type routers.
Have a quick read through those - if I remember correctly there are
posts which indicate specific features to turn off to

I switched Channel Bandwidth from 20/40 Mhz to 20 Mhz and Control
Channel from auto to channel 5.
None of these settings are new with the f/w release that caused the

No 'n' 'ac' or 'ax', 'r, 's' etc.
No Roaming, No channel Bondin

I can certainly see that problem but maybe they can tell me what knobs
that might have an effect. Wish I knew more about what protocols are
used by the squeezeboxes.

Probably the best thing is to let Asus know via their support
organisation and probably their support forum.
Other users of legacy kit might have already determined a set of
settings that works and Asus probably want to make things as backwards
compatible as possible.
