see other connected devices.

The SB2 seems to be working fine, Orange Squeeze on the phone seems to
be OK but now my laptop no longer lists any of the Squeezeboxes on the
"network" page and I cannot access LMS via the browser even if I type
"192.168.0.2:9000" directly into the address bar
That would cause an issue! Chances are that something else had the same
IP address.

I've just added a Squeezebox 2 to my Boom, Radio x2, Duet x2, Touch x2
set up and have found that although it will happily connect to either of
my routers, it can only see LMS when connected to the "extender" router

Potential buyers should note that the SB shown in the photo is a
Squeezebox (aka Squeezebox 1), and definitely not a Squeezebox 2. If it

Ya know the funny thing (at least from my perspective)? Around 6 years
or so ago I bought a 2nd SB2 right after Logitech acquired Slim Devices.
My thinking was that I couldn't be sure that they would keep the line
alive, or wouldn't dumb it down to some lowest common denominator.

Yes, they definitely produced the SB2 in both wifi and non-wifi models.
They initially did so with the SB3 as well, but later dropped the
non-wifi model sometime after the Logitech acquisition.

I always preferred the form factor of the SB2 to that of the
SB3/Classic. Just maybe not as polished looking. Also, I have mine on
top of a tall kitchen cabinet, lifted in the back, with the screen
angled downward - something not quite as easily done with the SB3.

assertion that the device is the "non wifi" model.
Since I've never seen one of these, it's hard for me to tell (I have

On the inside it's the same as an SB3, so if you're okay with the form
factor (sometimes compared to a 1970s era clock radio), it's as good as
an SB3/Classic. And it fits in a wider variety of spaces. I have two
SB2s in my collection and think they're great.
Be sure to confirm it's really an SB2.
I just saw a listing on eBay for a brand-new-in-box SB2 (clearly
identified as non-wifi). I seldom see discussions of this device. Who
can tell me if I should think about buying it for a relatively low

Sometimes the Players name can be coinfused with the model type. IIRC
LMS does (or used to) some auto naming of devices and so you can get
Squeezbox 4 if you had 4 players.
To be sure on the device itself - go into the Settings/Information/
Information and then scroll down to "Model"

That makes sense if it's a SB 1. For some reason, server is showing as
2, but if you say that firmware goes with 1, I believe it. It is an old
device. I did update Ubuntu as well, so there may actually be missing
transcoding support at the server. Let me see if making those updates
helps.

If it is 40 then you have a SB1 and not SB2 - the physical differences
are small as they use same case.

One more related symptom: when configuring the networking in my SB2, it
detects a server on my network, but this too has the wrong IP address
(also, the IP of my router). In order to actually talk to the server,
I have to manually enter an IP.

I have a variety of Squeezeboxes and a Boom. They all work with BBC
iPlayer fine, except for one SB2 which constantly rebuffers.
I reckoned it needed a Xilinx reset. But it wouldn't 'see' the 1
remote key press when power was restored. So I tried a factory reset;

Thats always an option. The SB1 and SB2 were the best units for this due
to the screen being seperate from the main PCB.

I remember seeing some creative and handy people made their own case
mods. I wonder if there are shops online that could do custom made
cases?
Failing that I guess there must be small handy shops that can do custom
works.

I think your only chance will ne a second hand, perhaps a dead unit.
Or you could contact Sales directly to see if they have any spares
tucked away in the Santa Clara facility.
I wouldn't get my hopes up though.

Hmmm, you're not alone - my Sb1 has gone that way and two SB2's are also
heading that way - be great to get another case but wouldn't bet on it.

I have had different Squeezeboxes including the Transporter. But my
first Squeezebox 2 is still amongst my favorite due to its low profile
form factor.
But for some reason the case has gone all sticky and gummy on me.
I cannot find a replacement case in the Slim accessories store. Does
anyon
