So can you now buy all music Apple Lossless DRM free, and then convert
to FLAC?
I dont have iTunes installed so couldnt get any detail on this from the
iTunes website.

No, you cannot purchase iTMS music in Apple Lossles, just their
standard .m4p/.m4a AAC format in a
One word: QTFairUse. I was freed of the DRM infection years ago. That
said, the higher bit-rates being offered is a better step than the
DRM-free stuff, IMHO. Just wish they would sell all of their stuff in
(at least) Apple Lossless. I realize FLAC will never happen, but at
least Apple
Well as they say, you don't have to buy from them.
Apple is selling DRM and Non-DRMed music.
The music is compressed.
I haven't bought any music from them because it won't work with SB, I
may now because some does.

when they announce that you can buy songs without DRM (is the price
higher?) all the while they are laughing at the rubes.

Yes. Can't remember the exact values but it is something like 30p/c
more without DRM. Although it is higher bitrate too.

Lame as it is, think of it as a gentleman's agreement. There are
utilities that can remove it for you. I don't think it escaped Apple
that they could have simply used an opaque number to reference your
entry in their customer database, or even put that number in a
watermark. Watermarking an AAC

Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere -- but what does this change
on the part of Apple mean for my existing DRM music and SB3; will Apple
and Logitech agree on protocols that will now allow the DRM music to
stream to my SB3 so i can enjoy the music I have legally purchased with

That is the point, one common quick and dirty 'security' trick it so
leave an easy to defeat lock, say keeping userids in clear text.
