Most probably because it is old . It was a plugin.
Now you just need to activate it as :
local 0.0.0.0/0 {
imap_metadata = yes
}
(this activate it for all ip's)

There is no imap_metadata plugin. That feature is in the Dovecot core,
and can be enabled with a setting, as outlined in the documentation
here:
