I have a Fluke and numerous far east dmms. The 260 and and old heath
vtvm are still used as well. Peaking and nulling on a dmm is no
funand the bar indicator on some just is not as nice s an analog
meter.

Me too. They're much more tolerant when (not IF) you try and measure 500VDC
on the resistance range. I can tell you that lesser brands are not
(firsthand!) :-
I also use a Fluke ... many cheaper DVM's have greater AC and DC tolerances. I
however like the Simpson 260's analog dial for reading milliampres.

Just about any model would work nicely for you. Personally, I don't have the
patience for autoranging meters and so prefer to set the range myself, and
these tend to be a bit cheaper.
