I'll take $325 for just the HT and original accessories or $400 for the entire
package, plus shipping.

I'd like $425 for the entire package. Please reply off-list.

Actually, my point was that the real way to drive down costs was for other
manufacturers to jump into the ring. An open source alternate would be nice,
but it wouldn't be "D Star" and having multiple implementations would likely
not be a good thing for D Star in the long run.
er in search of a problem.

#x27;m not sure that this project has any future, but two codecs will probably
destroy D-Star, not make it more popular.

answer. It's very unfortunate that these threads always seem to degenerate into
some kind of p*ssing contest between the same two or three fellows.

king about, but having
an antenna high enough will certainly make it easier.
If you can hear the repeater well with your beam, there's a good chance you'll
be able to get into it.

I should've have written "URL" instead of "link." Internet radios require URLs
to be in specific formats. The link in the original post isn't in a format that
mine can read.
I've found a compatible URL.

What link did you use for your internet radio? I'd like to load this into my
Revo Pico.

Unless you're getting out of amateur radio completely, I'd think twice about
selling my IC-91AD. Aside from the D-Star capabilities, there is no other
amateur handheld that can come even remotely close to the performance of the
IC-91AD, especially the receive performance.

Your best option would be to buy an amp or sell the HT and buy one of the
higher power mobiles. Personally, I bought an RFC 2/70 dual band amp and it
seems to work fine.

Bob,
Congrats on the new system. I drive through Peoria occasionally, so I'll try to
see if I can work it next time I come through.

I'm sure there are going to be a number of D-Star users at Dayton this year.
I'm curious to know what frequencies do D-Star user congregate on there?
I usually go for a day or two and thought I might drag the IC-91AD along, just
to see who is around.

's a very good thing for those of us interested in D-Star and it's
future viability as an amateur operating protocol.
I certainly don't see a problem with the release of the IC-80AD and find it
kind of odd that some people seem to.

Actually, if you're part of this list, you DO have a Yahoo account.
You can't be a member of any Yahoo group, including this one, and not
have one.
I'd suggest you look into you account settings and see what you find.

Yes, in those days the refrain was, "Can we rob you now?" ;)
I can't imagine that anyone who actually had to pay phone bills back
in the monopoly days actually misses them.

I'd bet that most of the American reps from Yaesu and Kenwood don't
really know anything about D-Star. In fact, I'm often surprised when
they actually know anything useful about their own products.

Hi Ron,
Thanks for the info. Mine basically has a bunch of SW frequencies
programmed into it, with memory names and group names. They are
different than yours, but that might be normal.
Thanks for the info.

some of the memories,
complete with memory names.
Is this normal, or did I get a "demo" rig?
Thanks,

[ed - It is normal to find short wave, etc pre-programmed.]
