It seems to me the first question is whether you want the 2400 to be portable. If so, the other comments are on target. But if you can fix it to a single location at least when it's networked, you can just connect it to the Airport base station via ethernet and get connected to all the other

The only value in v2 in your case might simply be that that is what Apple is maintaining and updating, and who knows when they're going to tell you that Rendezvous only works on the v2 base station or something like that. Some of the older v1 base stations also have the problem of dying between 12
