I get excellent audio reports on my K2 audio on all bands but 10 meters.
People tell it sounds like RF is getting back into the radio.
I have the KAT100 tuner and an RF Works isolator that should prevent RF
from getting back into the radio, and the K2 itself is gorounded. The disortion

Folks,
I have seen several 'carry-cases' for many rigs, and it suddenly dawned on
me that the common packaging used for these carry-cases is incorrect. Most
all I have seen orient the rig so it appears in its normal operating
position when the case is opened - that means the knobs are toward th
Let me present a dissenting point of view on the K1. I am the fourth owner
of K-1 SN0004 with a 40/20 M module. I have had it for 2 years. I have found
that the more I use it the less I like it.
I find the K1 both too much radio and too little radio at the same time.
I use it primarily for portab
I *really* need one for my KX1. I have trashed 2 or 3 pots by
compression when carrying it in my waist pack. In fact I have to
replace a scratchy pair now that has to be pressed and gingerly
rotated. I was thinking of thick foam with cutouts, to save weight.
Maybe we can get someone to make
Thanks to all who tried to keep an ear out for me. Off the mountain now.
Unfortunately the only Elecraft rig worked was AD6GI, Chuck, K2 from
Sunnyvale.
The K1 worked flawlessly with 33' of wire in a tree and 17' on the
ground. Had to work from the tent because weather conditions were
horrible,
Ever see those hard plastic snap-on protective covers
for the fronts of oscilloscopes? They cover the entire
front, the display and knobs, from damage and dust.
I'd really like one for my K2 for transport.
I have a foam case I carry the K2, mic, key, cables,
etc, etc in, but the K2's face is not 1
Thanks guys. She is working now, just dont have squat for drive on SSB. When
I "tune" she looks good but the MD2 will barely get a couple watts.
Keep tweaking :)

Well found the archives so nevermind on that. I was being sleepy last not
and forgot to do the CAL PLL. But now when I try it at 1800.10 I get an Info
232 error.
Any ideas?

Didn't there used to be archives of this mail list somewhere that someone
indexed?
I just installed my 160 board and have no TX. I was getting sleepy when I
finished it so might have been "dumb" :)
I seemed to remember something from the last K2 I built but cant remember.
Can someone direct me to
Hello,
Thanks very much to all of you who answered my request for information. Since
the responses (posted on the list & directly to me) supported each other, I know
what I have to do.
Yes, that's right, find my soldering iron...

Hello all,
I know this isn't a lighthouse, but I'm just so excited about putting on
the Keystone International Balloon Festival. I thought you would like to
know about this nice event and some of the details as the proceeds go to
charities.
First thing - this counts towards a WA3WSJ Nomad Award.
And you think you have soldering problems.
If you haven't seen the movie of soldering in space aboard the
International Space Station, check it out -

The K1 is still tops for field work, in my book.
Even had the KX1 been available, I'd have bought my K1 (SN 175
Hi Max:
Don gave you some good suggestions there, but...

present at turn-on. I think I'd first look for a flakey (or unsoldered)
joint in the AF chain. This sounds like a connection that fails after

Hi
As you describe your problem occurring with the side tone as well as the
received signal I would suspect something in the AF amp circuit. Look for a bad
connection, missing or wrong part around U9 on the control board. If you cannot
find anything U9 may be bad. If you need to replace U9 cut

Steve and All,
A lot of contesters use software to control both VFOs and concurrently do a
lot of other things too, so a second knob is not really necessary. In
fact, the existing knob is not used either while under software
control. Writelog and N1MM Logger are two such programs, although I
