Hi
I have recently upgraded my K1-2 to a K1-4 so now I have my old 40/20m
module.
I would like to mod this board to a 80/40m module (good for the winter here
in the UK)
Anyone do this mod and any comments?
Would I only need to change the 20m side, I guess so ??
Any advice ??

Hi
I know this is very much of topic. But I was at a ham fest in the weekend
and found an old Tentec Century in disrepair.
I thought it would be a shame for the tex to be scrapped so I bought it
for $30 and are now trying to get it back to life, Rx functions fine (I
know it's DC)
and TX seems to be
Hi Ci,
You're probabaly correct in commenting about computer
generated code. Many of the popular contest logging
programs do send the exchange, I'm not sure if many
(or any) copy the incoming exchange.
I found I used my straight key a fair amount to fill
in missing data (usually "CK" or "SECT").

Welcome to the club. This reflector can often go off the rails as do

Hi Kurt,
For a major contest, the bands were actually rather
quiet, IMHO. Wait until CQ WW DX CW Thanksgiving
weekend, THAT'S noise!
That being said, when I don't want to deal with a
contest, I go to the WARC bands. 30M being my favorite
now. The nice thing about those bands, is the playing

It does make the submittal easier, it also helps me

Hello all,
I aligned my K2 with Spectrogram and it worked great!
I should have done this a few years ago -hi!
I checked my K1, but the filters were dead on so no
alignment needed there. Thanks to all who took the time to email about
N0SS links etc.

Hello all!
Does anyone know if Elecraft is planning a digital voice recorder
for the K2? It sure would be nice to push a button and send cq on ssb!
I also operate portable at covered bridges, lighthouses and lightships.
I now use my TS-570D only because it has a DVR in it. Boy, a K2 with a

Hi all,
Well it started out all right. I got three QSOs during the ARS sprint. But
then my K2 encountered trouble with its C.A.T. system. Or should I say cat
(meow) system. See:

Silly question...
KPA100 / KAT100 have S0239 chassis sockets for the antenna connectors. I
can't find SO239 line plugs. I'm guessing SO239s mate with something
else, and it doesn't seem to be a PL239 either.
I'm PRETTY sure it's a PL259, but before I order something stupid,
thought I'd check

Yes, the SO-239 and PL-159 designations originate from the US Army Signal Corps
component nomenclature system that was in effect before mid-WWII. Therefore,

Ha! We live with this stuff for so long we forget that it's not "obvious"

Along those lines you'll often see that pair called "UHF Connectors". Well,
they were the state of the art in the 1930's when Amphenol developed them,
and back then "UHF" started at about 30 MHz. The VHF designation ha

Hello all,
If anyone has a PSK-20 Rig that has to much audio output for your
computer sound card, this will help.
I always had that annoying red flash on my psk screen " reduce audio" or
something like that. I decreased my sound card receive settings to
minimum, but still to much audio. I took my

difference - it certainly will do no harm and has promise of correcting your
problem. While you are inside the KPA100 shield, I would recommend that you
