[Elecraft] K1 Problem

2006-04-27 Thread Wes Linscott
My new 4-band K1 #2183 has been finished and on the air just over a week now and has been working fine. Late yesterday when I switched to 20 meters it was dead on that band. The other 3 bands are working normally. I am going to have to do some troubleshooting when I get home from work today.

Hi Manfred, Re-check the denoiser, autonotch, and filter gain settings in table #7 on page 37 of the KDSP2_A1 manual, and set your K2 to the default settings shown in table #7. If the problem is still there,, you might try reducing denoiser SSB gain and / or SSB filter gain below the default set

RE: [Elecraft] ATU firmware update ?

2006-04-27 Thread Don Wilhelm
Ken, I can't recall all the update features, but the one that I would deem important is that the newer firmware supports 60 meter use - however, consider that transmitting a CW carrier on 60 meters (even for tuning) is not within the FCC rules. I use a resonant 60 meter dipole myself. 73, Don W3

RE: [Elecraft] K1 Problem

Wes, I should think that the trouble would be found on the FL1-4 board. Check the 20 crystal first. Measure the RF Voltages with an RF Probe and compare to the normal ranges listed in the K1 manual. 73, Don W3FPR > -Original Message- > > My new 4-band K1 #2183 has been finished and on

There has been minimal user feedback given on preferred DSP settings. Try first setting the DSP2 to the Elecraft defaults found in manual table 7, if they are not currently set to those defaults. Try reducing the denoiser decay setting to 07 for SSB as previously suggested by a user. I have

Fred, Relays K12-15 switch the 8 VCO ranges. Once you have selected a range the LCD is your indicator of what band you are on. Because they are latching relays it will "remember" what band you are on. Having selected a band changing frequencies is a matter of turning the optical en

How does one know what "BAND" the K2 is set for? Hi Fred, The K2 firmware does have a notion of what band you're on. The way *you* can tell (usually) is to look at the VFO frequency. However, it is possible to tune outside the normal band limits, possibly even into the next band's territory

Fred, You can use your ears rather than the S-meter - just tune for the strongest signal strength. Close your eyes and listen, you should hear a peak as you rotate the inductor slug (or capacitor trimmer). You should be able to resolve the peak within about 1/4 turn with just your ears. The pea
