Most (if not all) the K1EL keyers support Ultimatic mode - at least my K12
and K40 include it.
BTW, the K12 board is small enough to tuck inside the K2 for those who are
adventursome or creative (I have not done it, mine is external for use on
several rigs).

When I compare 2 radios without using proper test equipment, for one thing I
consider is the radio's ability to hear the weakest of signals. I use the
same antenna and tune one radio for a weak signal and then switch the
antenna to the other radio and see how well it receives that same signal. I

I originally built my K2 #2204 about 5 years back, and have had a
ball with it, bringing it up to date with all the latest mods and small
alterations, but, like others on the reflector here, I was finally bitten
by the " build another kit" bug and consequently built myself another K2 #
I used a Heil Proset. I already owned one and used it with my Kenwood.
When I built the K2, I realized that it was easiest if I followed the
Heil Proset scheme as it is the easierst to jumper on the board. I then
opened up the adapter cord and wired it accordingly. It works well and

I'm working on page 30 of KPA 100 manual. I am ready to connect J2
(SO239) as directed. I seem to remember a modification using an RFC
in there somewhere. I can't remember where I saw it. A brief review
in the reflector site was a blank. Any ideas before I proceed?

The positioning of R10 is critical for stable operation. See the bottom of
page 2 of Errata C-7, if you haven't looked at it already. If you don't have
the errata, it's available on the Elecraft web site (www.elecraft.com).

I went through this a few weeks ago. After trying several different
value resistors in parallel with R 10 I ended up with a 39 ohm one. This
dropped the the total resistance to about 18 ohms and increased the
current from the original 24 mA to 34 mA. Still not as bright as #5523
