Hi
Just a reminder that we (G3PJT, G3RXQ and HB9DRV) will be running an
Elecraft K2 Workshop on Saturday 7th October at the RSGB HF Convention
at the Gatwick Worth Hotel close to Gatwick Airport.
So far the agenda looks like:-
- Antenna switch ( G3PJT)
- Keypad (G3PJT)
- 2nd RX controller

Continuing our discussion on measuring RF inductors, I tested an
inductor I wound on a powdered iron core this morning. 29 turns of #22

The results when using the Noise blanker has been mixed for me. I dont
have any luck with nearby electric fences. I always need to use the Low
Threshold since the pulse levels are low. Sometimes it works sometimes
it does not. I have the same mixed results on power line noise when the

Craig,
I have electrical fence impulse noise 24/7 unless the neighbors horse is out
feeding on the lawn, then it is off. I find the DSP unit does what you like
to see in your last par. You can customize it to work for various
circumstances, but I am not the expert.

I just called an N4 from New Jersey - that op

It could be that my ten Watts from my bare K2

Mint Condition. Nifty mini-manual for the Elecraft K2.

If they do decide I feel the cost will be around $5500 in kit form.

Although you may indeed have an assembly problem, it is difficult to
determine from a distance. Re-check the soldering and check to be certain
that T1 thru T4 have well tinned leads and also have the wires in the
correct holes.
Try injecting a stronger signal (an antenna may not be adequate),

I don't see anything different with your wish list compared to the K2
with options other than the bigger mechanics and GC rx (which I
don't want).

I have always found it easier to Zero beat using CW spot and the beat note

I have a K2 that has been little used since I purchased it in 2005.
It has pretty much all options except for no DSP and no internal battery.
I have a second K2 that has no DSP, no serial control, but has the battery.
I will provide serial number and options list off-list to serious
potential
Personally if Elecraft were to offer a new K3 that was 100 watts output I
would not buy it. 5 watts is all I need.

While I agree the K2 is a great radio, just remember the other station
may have been putting out a whole lot more than 10 Watts. Then it would
make perfect sense for you to hear him, but not vice versa, even if his
radio had as good a receiver.

Hi gang,
If I'm going to be running my K2, QRP version, near its maximum RF output
power, then to what value should I set CAL CUR in order to protect the finals?
Maybe 4.0 A, or is that too high? I'll back the power down, if and when I get
a HI CUR warning.
Thanks 73,
