Someone had sent me a link and comments on an antenna what had three legs either
side of centernot three wires cut for seperate bands.
I lost the email and since it's been after 1990, the short term memory loss
thing has set in.
Anyone have a link to the information? I recall someone
Thanks to all for the reference to p.25 of the KAT100 manual on this

Chastised myself - chalk it up to reading the pdf file on slow computer :)

I ordered the regular Simplex and paid a few bucks

I have a question about AM receive bandwidth options. I don't see in the
manual a definition of the allowed DSP BW for each mode. I know that the 6
kHz xtal filter is suggested for AM, but wonder if the DSP bandwidth can go
wider, perhaps 10 kHz for BC and solid SWBC reception? If so, can the FM

Joel,
I just updated this topic on the FAQ a couple days ago. Please take a look and
let
me know if you have any additional questions. As far as doing a mod on the
filter
slots, I don't think Elecraft at this time would endorse this, but Wayne or
Eric
would have to comment on it.
...Alternately, can a coupling
capacitor be used across the filter slots to just use DSP for AM BC?
No, a roofing filter is required. Please see my remarks the other day
about IF image response.

Is it possible to buy only bare boards from elecraft? I'm thinking
about a KIO2, but i already have all the parts in my junk box, and $90
is alot to spend for something i basically already have.

Lyle - I think it definitely is desirable to let then RX with the wider
FM filter in AM. (With relaxed image reject specs.) I do this on all my
other radios. In that case, what is the max DSP b/w?

This is already discussed in the FAQ. AM RX is OK with the FM filter.
You can also copy AM through an SSB filter in SSB mode; the K3 is
extremely frequency stable and opposite-sideband rejection very high.
You can optionally use the RX EQ menu entry to cut the bass frequencies

If the 'regular' contacts are the same as what was previously
supplied with the various Begali magnetic paddles, they have
problems with many keyers, including the K2's internal keyer,
the Logikey, and others. So the gold contacts are a very good
investment.

That is correct, and also the K1EL Winkey keyer. Steve provided
me with a chip fix for the Begali Simplex Mono which had the funny
material for key contacts. Steve did considerable research and
finally declard the Begali contact material was acting more like a
diode, creating a peculiar problem
Or how about just a little do it yourself gold plating of the standard
contacts?
The issue with the regular Begali contacts (as well as those used
by Schurr and others) is that they appear to be of an alloy that
forms a semi-conducting surface.
The solution is to add a schmidt trigger
In the past day or two I have noticed a change on the K3 order page.
The KFL3B-FM was previously listed as a 7-pole filter at $99.00.
It is now listed as an 8-pole filter at $120.00.
Is this an error correction or a change in the specifications? If

I stand corrected! :-) Thanks for the info.
Those that paid the old price of $99.00 for the 7 pole FM filter will
still get the 8 pole FM filter for that price. (not $79) New orders will
be at $120.

Personally, I cant hear anything above about 4000 Hz, that

The R390a had 4Kc (slightly too narrow) to 8Kc then 16Kc.

Hi Guys,
I put up Bobtail Curtain antenna for 20 meters for the CQ DX contest

problem. It requires a matching network (tank circuit) at the feed
point. So I took my MFJ-269 antenna analyzer out to the feedpoint and
tuned
