Never had a problem. I was concerned as well, but informal tests showed no
problems. I haven't had a chance to use a spectrum analyzer on it yet. I
run it at the legal limit (750 watts), anyway ;-)

I hope this isn¹t too elementary for you folks, but I have not been able to
get my K3 to come close to accurately reading CW and data RX. I have tried
various settings, etc. All I ever get is gibberish. Is there an easy to
understand guide or instruction for this function available?

My K2 is in the phase of alignment and Test, Part III.
In the transmitter alignment with 2, 5 or 10 watts I have the voltage and
current similar to the manual (10 watts 11.5v and 1.98 amp).
Test Setup: 100w dummy and WM-2 Wattmeter from oak hills
Everything seems OK. Power and current remain

I have for sale a Tektronix 465 dual trace oscilloscope. Cosmetically it's
about a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10. Electronically, I give it an 8. No burn
marks on the tube, nice bright trace, adjustment switches and pots aren't
too noisy. It had a calibration sticker on it which I had to remove to
1/4W or 1/8W is OK.

My guess is that the output of the average wall wart will have enough noise
and ripple to make it unsuitable for use with a radio.

unsoldered or poorly soldered connection that has now formed enough
oxidation to cause trouble. The fault could be anywhere in the receive

You simply connect the PR6 to the RX IN/OUT on the KXV3. To use it just tap

he epoxied an LM7812 and heatsink to the back of a wall-wart, added a
couple of capacitors, and checked the output for any ripple.

Just put the finishing touches on my new K3/10, serial number 2328. What a
great kit and how intricate the mechanical assembly let alone all the SMT
boards. Now I get to try the knobs, switches, read the manual, make some
QSOs and order some more filters. What a blast to put together and operate.
I replaced my 6 meter station ( Orion O2 + Elecraft XV50 ) with the K3.
I find that in my city location that the K3 is equal to the old set up. I do
have the PR6 preamp but I find that I do not need it as the one in the K3 is
just fine. living in the city the background noise is S3 - S4 most of

as a super filter. There is no need for any additional filtering. The output
is extremely clean and regulated.
I would stay with a transformer type to cut down on the possibility of
switching power supply noise.

Something is not right, and a tip off is that two rigs have
problems. Are you using the EXACT same cable to connect your 6 meter
antenna to the 3 rigs? Are you using any relays or coax switches? I've
been to a few shacks where the ham claims a brand new rig is junk.

The radio would hear very strong signals, things that were S9+ on
other HF rigs, but on the K1, sounded very very weak.
