Tom, With R6 out, and DC voltage on U4 pin 3, but 0 volts on U4 pin 1, you certainly can suspect that U4 is toast. Unless you have a solder bridge between U4 pins 2 and 3 *and* no connection between pins 1 and 2 - that would be 2 failures, and we normally expect only a single failure, so a bad

As per Gary's suggestion, I removed and rewound T1. I also reflowed all the joints in the SWR bridge and on U4. With R6 out, I still measure 0.0 V and with it in I'm still under 3 v. With it in, I read the same 2.4V as before. While I can't confirm the actual output power exactly, my MFJ tuner

Recent versions of N1MM Logger seem to have problems with serial port CW keying via the K3's radio control port, at least when that port is a USB adapter. Try setting DTR and RTS both to Always Off and unchecking the CW/Other box beside the port in the N1MM Configurer to see if that gets your r

Monty, Actually, I have a new one. And I have an MFJ-994B auto-tuner in front of it. My current main rig is an Icom IC756Pro3 - which I love. I had an early K3 and when the economy tanked I had to sell it. Now that I'm back on a more even footing I decided I can't live without another K3.

Doug - I bought an older ALS-600 and put Phil Silas' QSK mod in it. It works beautifully. 60 watts' drive for full output. If I wanted to make it change bands from the K3, Ameritron tells me a $350 mod plus $119 interface would be needed. So you may want to look for a new or newer one with
