The net was a bit challenging again today. Signals were just not very

For those bothered by fan noise, you might look into my fan speed

that gradually speeds up the fan as the temperature rises. PC boards
are available from FAR circuits or you can just breadboard it on a scrap

You state this very well. Competition is good and sooner or later
someone will produce a better radio than the K3. Many K3 users would like

You are absolutely right. The RF gain doesn't work in frequency entry mode
either. Curiously the 4 little encoder knobs do. You can change bandwidth,
mic gain and compression freely. I think it's important that the AF gain
always works, so this ought to be fixed. I have had mine for two years and
I have one I bought a few months ago to go with my new K3. Works great. I
do not notice any hash, and the fan noise hasn't bothered me yet (but then
again I'm usually running 2 rigs, 2 power supplies and 2 amps, all at the
same time. The PS fan is NOT the loudest thing in my shack by any means.
I have used one at Field Day for years. Works great no issues.
If you have a problem with fan noise, put the box on the floor. You
don't need it on the operating table anyway and moving it away from
the radio can't hurt the rfi issues.
