I bought a Heil HM-10-5 mic back in 2000 when I bought my
FT-847. This is the original style that sets in a cradle stand. I
chose the HC-5 element for good voice fidelity and always get good
reports. When I bought the K3/10 I contacted HRO for the correct
connector cable. Turns out that

What a rip off.

Turns out that the standard Kenwood cable CC-1XLR-K, with the red
connector is perfect for the K3 (HRO price $35.95).

I want to keep a freq set in VFO B when switching to a new VFO A freq using
the memory. The problem is I lose VFO B freq because in switches to the
memory set for VFO B for the memory location in VFO A.
Is there any way to use memory for VFO A only without changing the freq set
in VFO B ?
Tnx,
Just wondering if anyone from Elecraft might comment as to when the KREF3
external
reference input card may become available.

This sounds like you have the key jack set for paddle. Have you set

There is a method on page 99 of the K2 users manual (Rev G) that
explains how to hook both a computer and paddle to the K2.

Ian,
That sounds like either the menu system has gotten messed up or you have
one or more soldering problems.
I suspect that you may have attempted to change some menu items and do
other actions when it did not work without the regulator installed.

A CC-1XLR-K isn't just a 6 cable.
It's an 8 footer using high quality mic cable with a 3 pin XLR connector on one
end and an 8 pin mic connector with 1/4 PTT plug on the other end.
Well worth it to me...

Paul, the K2 internal tuner is a wide-range device and should be able to
match the 43 ft vertical from 10 thru 80 unless you happen to pick an
unfortunate length of feedline. The impedance seen by the tuner will depend
on the feedline length.
All of the available 43 ft verticals should work
Paul,
That is not an easy question to answer, and for your particular case, we
do not have enough facts.
It would be necessary to know the configuration of the radial field for
that vertical, then plug that information into an antenna modeling
program to find the impedance at the feedpoint to
As Don mentioned, the 2-part article in QST was written by AD5X and can also
be seen here:

I built one of these matching networks (it's not a tuner) for my 43'
vertical and it works very well on 160, 80 and up. The AD5X matching network

The S9 approach makes sense. A few wires lashed to the pole or inside the
pole will do.
80m is where the need for lots of radials come in since 43' is considered
short for that band.

The answer is YES.
The first paragrasph of the KDVR3 Installation manual tells it all -The
KDVR3 Digital Voice Recorder allows you to prerecord voice messages to
be transmitted and to record received audio.
The details are in the K3 Ownr's manual and the KDVR3 Installation
instructions.
