Dear Dave,
I Have nothing connected to the rea, I will have to study the circuitry and
see what has blown up.

I need replace the plugs (black and Red) on the end of my high power DC
lead, as they have over heated and now misshapen. I can source locally
if I knew what they are called or what series of connector they are.
Failing that I will need to order some replacements. No dam
Well there you have it, one way to test a product, is to heat it up and
cool it down again after a few cycles and all is well you have a good
product.

Hi Jerry,
I did not try to isolate as the track went straight to the max chip pin 8, I
just removed the chip. C38 was the cap that was cracked, so instead of 10nF
it was a few 100 pF!!! Or less.
I bought my KP100 some 3 years ago, and since then it has undergone a lot of
improvement from Elecraf
Hi Lennart,
Oh dear, this sounds tricky to solve over an email reflector. The first
thing do you have access to RF test equipment? As it would be useful to look
at the LO on a spectrum analyser. Your description sounds like you have lost
lock due to a component changing value with the excessive h
Hi Jerry,
I had the same problem and suspected U4, I removed U4 and fitted and IC
holder, and then fitted a new IC and still had the same fault.
The problem turned out to be a cracked capacitor in the voltage
magnification line. The Capacitor spacing is a bit smaller than the holes
provided and
ke its way to KPA100 U4 pin 12.

Hi,
After 3 years I decided to use my RS232 interface, however it does not work,
I measured the voltages and only had -1 volt on pin 8!!! I thought the Max
1406 maybe faulty so change it and also fitted an ic socket, still -1 volt
and -2.5 with the ic removed. fault traced to C38 it was cracked!
Hi does anyone knowif there are or were there any plans to introduce and
external frequency reference input (1Mhz or 10 MHz) to the K1,2 or 3, as
Rubidium and GPS off air standards are very cheap now days? and would make
a nice addition to the accessory line up.
If not, I can easily generate a
