Jack;
In my setup, the XV is connected to 12V, but is not "on" until it is
selected by changing the K3 to 2 meters (which, of course, is just what
it won't do.) The KAT500 is normally left on 24/7. I do not use the
"Auto" selection on the KAT500, so it can't surprise me with an unwanted

And, BTW, this was the only way to get home after the clutch bracket
failed and left you connected. You could start in 1st gear, and with
care, do your shifting without the clutch. I'm sure most of us old
timers remember doing that upon occasion!

Reminds me of my first chain saw - I bought a demo, already assembled,

Does this imply that, for RF, the width of the strap is of minimal

When I built my K3 years ago, the Sub-Rx didn't work. I found I had
plugged the synthesizer module (KSYN3 at that time) into its socket just
one pin off - very hard to see. Corrected it and never looked back.
Fortunately, no damage to the synthesizer in doing this.
So maybe?

If the K3 is in CW mode, the computer may key the rig, but there is no
RF output (unless you hold the key down.) No harm, no foul.

Keep the list as at present. Filter on "Subject = [Elecraft] " will put
the entire list into a file of your choice. If we could get everyone to
include the rig model in their subject line, we could be more specific,
but of course we probably can't do that.
