I'm still pretty new to surface mount soldering, but I'm discovering
that I really enjoy it! Last night, I was building a tiny little
oscillator, just for the SMD soldering practice, and I discovered a
spot where I needed a 1K resistor, but didn't have room for a big
1206 resistor... so I found an

This past week I went to Fry's to look for a case for my K2. I looked
at the Pelican cases and quickly discovered that they're rather
expensive! I ended up getting a Platt #407 which fits my K2 perfectly,
and was only $29.99. The case has the blocky adjustable foam and it
was pretty simple to
Hmm, I went through that a couple weeks ago and I ended up needing to
replace the 8-volt regulator. Elecraft sent me a new one. Check the
output voltage on the 8-volt regulator (LM2930T-8) and see how close
it is to 8 volts.
I'll be interested to see what the more experienced builders have to
say
Hi Everyone,
I just thought I should send a quick update and let everyone know that
my new K2, serial number 006322, is now up and running! The antenna
tuner, SSB adapter, and noise blanker are installed and working. The
power supply for the moment is a 12 volt, 7 amp-hour battery that I
connect
, Sarah, congratulations.
I wonder how the bolting together of K3 modules compares with soldering
a K2 in the sense of achievement stakes?
Enjoy!

Hi Bill,
I haven't encountered any serious problems yet, other than the
undervoltage on the AGC threshold test.
I did have quite a bit of difficulty installing the tilt bail, but I
think I just wasn't quite strong enough to push firmly to get it to
go where it was supposed to be. It

send me another one next week; I don't have one of those laying around.
In the meantime, I'm proceeding with the RF board, since it sounds
like it will work ok for the time being.

Thanks again!
