I'm curious if anyone has an idea if/how the VOX function could be
automatically DISABLED when using JUST the TRANSVERTER bands? I use my K3/10
with transverters for 50MHz-10GHz. When using the transverters, I must NOT use
VOX because this would bypass the TX sequencer which could cause maj

systems are not using any kind of VOX as need PTT control for
sequencing etc...

Many contesters like to assert a manual PTT instead of having the radio do it
when sending CW.

Disabling TX-ing can be done by TX-TEST mode, so which specific situation
requires disabling the VOX in CW mode?
Just curious, no more

Hi Don -
I believe you are wrong here in stating that the delay of RF output after
keying is fixed in the K3. Here is an excerpt of the notes from Wayne for
the MCU 1.87, DSP 1.69 firmware update:

They only suggestion I would make for the firmware is to force
CW VOX ON while in SSB mode if "Auto CW" is enabled. I generally
prefer PTT mode for both CW and SSB but it would be handy to
override CW PTT if Auto CW was enabled.
Joe, THAT´S IT!

Actually, I think RF output delay was introduced in MCU 1.87 / DSP
1.69, controlled by CONFIG:TX DLY (8-20ms).

Lexa,
I believe you are mis-interpreting What QSK DELAY does. It does *not*
increase the time before the onset of RF, but it does change the delay
after a keyup condition.
The purpose of QSK DELAY is to keep the amplifier relays held in between
code elements so one does not have to listen t

Hello Mike,
thanks to this "problem" I am totally confused now :-(
Mentioned problem is maybe permanent in all previous versions, tried
1.88 now and have the same results.
If SSB+CW active there is all the time RF out in SSB mode even if CW
mode is in PTT or VOX. The difference is that if
Mike,
you are right...
When you have SSB + CW active (menu:CW WGHT press "1") there is now no
conncetion between PTT/VOX mode for CW and CW sending in SSB mode.
(as it was in previous versions as I remember)
My previous messages concerning this was based on previous experience

Hi again, Dick:
Bet you didn't think of this...
If you want to operate ssb with a foot switch PTT and have CW available
at the touch of a key, leave the K3 in VOX mode, lower the vox gain so
that vox does not operate (if you use the foot switch, you don't need
any VOX gain), then if you want
Maybe there will be also chance to change KEY OUT behavior to be also
OFF when in CW PTT mode the Key is touched. Or select KEY OUT behavior
in menu somewhere.
But maybe this is not so easy, I know...

I installed 2.0 last nite.
Dumb luck I guess, but everything is working fine here.
Can operate QSK, semi, vox or whatever; no sticking, no problems.

I have v.2.00 firmware installed, and I also find the CW VOX stuck on in the CW
mode. It is also stuck in QSK in CW mode. SEMI is the same as QSK. Roy

Is it possible you are using a rig control / logging program (DxLab HRD)
that is sending the PTT via the software?

I keyed my K3 several times into an open connector before I noticed the

sure VOX was off and there was no external PTT before I started warming up
