Can any of the folks who have a K3 make some comments about using a straight key
and/or bug? Is it menu controlled? Do we need diodes as with the K2?
thanks

There are separate PADDLE and KEY jacks. No menus or diodes involved.

The K3 has TWO inputs. One for paddles and the other for a straight key or
computer/keyer input. No diodes or mods necessary :) They're both active at
the
same time, so you do not have to change anything in the menu to go from one to
another.

Hi Thom:
The K3 offers SEPARATE INPUTS for a PADDLE and another (external)
keying device, be it
straight key, bug, K1EL WinKey, parallel/serial port keying adapter,
whatever you wish
to use. There is NO NEED for a menu change since both inputs are
directly available on
the back of the K3.

Oops - I err'ed about the connector types. Both are 1/4 phone plugs, stereo

1/4 inch...man, that means I have to find the pre-computer junk box. As much as
I love my old Drakes...I'm glad Aptos didn't go the skinny military plug
