Okay, the pin 4 to pin 8 jumper fixed it.
Thanks Don and others.

The KAT500 will accept either TTL or real RS-232 voltage levels. The KAT500

Somehow I misplaced the data cable used to configure the KAT500. As I recall I
had the USB version but since I have more RS232 ports than USB ports available
these days I ordered what I thought would be a replacement.
I have a K3 and the KAT500.
Today I realized that when I switched from, say, 10m to 6m that the ANT
stayed with ANT-1. In fact, it stays on whatever I manually move it to.
I also have ANT3 which is a cantenna dummy load kludge, fwiw.
Using the KAT500 Utility I verified that 6m has "Enabled"

The PTT is generated by the transceiver
it.
The question remains, is it possible to do it all in the firmware or
hardware mods will be required.

This whole issue
You can use the Utility program to change that power limit so the KPA500
will open the key line at higher powers. See Amplifier Key Interrupt Power
in your Owner's manual.

The PTT is generated by the transceiver. The KAT500 passes it thru to the amp
unless the KAT is tuning a high SWR. The problem is that the amp goes into
fault before the KAT can OPEN the key line. Firmware in the KAT with some
delay is not the answer...it's already too slow for the amp. If there
I think your analysis is right, and in some cases the ATU cannot break or
reconnect the key line while RF is present. We have KPA500 firmware in test
that does this. It is on its way to public availability.

Make sure you are only routing the AMP keying line from the rig through
the KAT 500 to the amp. The tuner always interrupts this line when it is
tuning. This can be done either via the the AMP keying line RCA
connectors on the Rig, KAT500 and the AMP, or via the KPAK3AUX cable
connections
that feature implemented.

Hi Eric,
I do not have the AUX cable. As described in the video, I am only using the
RCA cable from the Flex 3000 into the KAT500 and then another cable from the
KAT500 down to the KPA500.
I am not using this with a K3 radio, which in that case, would only use the
AUX cable and no RCA Key

On your K3, go into CONFIG:TUN PWR and set the tune power to 25 watts.
The KAT500 takes about 20-25 watts to tune. Most of us had TUN PWR set
at 5W or close for the KAT3, and have forgotten about the setting.

Hi Bob
It sounds as though you have made the same mistake as I did yesterday with
my new KAT500. In my case I got the co-ax cable wrong.
However, from the way you describe it, I think you have misconnected the
control cables. You need to remove the existing cable between the K3 and
KPA500 from
