No, you need to use the same offset values for the same filter position in
the main and sub receivers. If the marked offsets aren't too far apart, you
can use the average of the two values for both receivers. That works fine
for my 500hz and 200hz 5-pole filters.

Dave, which part of the instructions indicate your board needs the mod?
The Elecraft Web site says K3's before: about Oct 7, 2008, about S/N 1900
The revision marked on your board has no bearing on this. Boards needing
the mod will measure 604 ohms at R19 and R20 as Joe mentioned.

All of the dongles I have seen are very simplistic, ergo cheap. This
approach is a little more expensive, but it allows a greater range of
possibilities. I still stand by what I said and suggest this approach.

After mulling this over as I write this response, I come away with the
idea that a parameter in the transmitter keying menu has not been
changed to account for the amplifier turn on delay. Someone should check
that.

UPS is not and never will be my carrier of choice!
Their attitude explains why their trucks are brown though.

Ron,
Google it. I forget. It's a free download. I'm sure that you'll
have a lot of fun with it once you've gotten it running.

and that works seamlessly with my K3
(and pretty well with my TS590 - I do have other rigs).
I guess I have been either very lucky or, more likely, I am in the silent
majority.
I am now waiting for my KAT500 to arrive. I will also probably buy the new
TS-990 when it becomes available.

I downloaded a copy of K3-EZ and tried it with my KX3. I found that it
seems to work OK, but I must say that I haven't tried everything yet.
K3-EZ seems to be a really nice utility to have around.

Both K3 and KX3 can send CW via a software command. Is this feature useful

isn't as obviously adaptable to standing operation when compared to the
FT817.

How is the ranking decided? Is it subjective or is there a formula?
It's ranked by Rob's narrow spaced dynamic range measurement.

The KX3 would be the better choice for hand-held operation, and it

Can anyone estimate approx operating time for KX3 on such a battery and
approx cw power output?

If anyone is interested in moving their KX-1 to someone who will put it to
good use on SOTA summits, please drop me an email. Ideally, I hope it has
the KXAT1 ATU and KXPD1 paddles.

also pipe NaP3 out to FLDIGI using VAC V4.12. It's really an awesome
operation once you get it together.

I think, once you have it all lashed up, you will really have some
fun. Good luck and do use a good card with ASIO drivers for best
performance.
