of those standards which may be used to demonstrate compliance with the EMC
Directive, 89/336/EEC.
The EMC Directive does not cover medical devices since June 1998, you have

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to troubleshoot ESD problems?
Specifically, I am having a problem with contact discharge to a metal chassis.
The first thing that comes to mind would be to check for ground bounce with an
oscilloscope when the ESD gun is discharged. For example, I thought
IMHO the magnetic fields go right through the watch case and either
disrupt what's going on or can even magnetize the parts. Either way, the
parts are like stuck together and the watch won't run well.

To answer your question bluntly, NO, there is no correlation between VW-1 and
UL94V-1,HF-1, etc.
The VW-1 rating is a flame test and rating performed on wire and cable
constructions only. The combination of the wire, plus any insulstion, jacket,
shielding, or taping, and coloring, is

VW stands for 'Vertical Wire' test. This applies to wires only. It is
however, the best class.
94 V series is the UL 94 standard, Vertical positioning of the test sample.
