Re: Capacitor Discharge Test

Greetings Joe and everyone, I can't speak for lab equipment, but I know that for UL 1950 (EN 60950/ IEC 950) my former employer (a recent NRTL who works/worked closely with the biggest) would always test with the mains switch both on and off. If you think about it, it makes sense to test with

How about the good old HP Harmonic Flicker Test Sysytem that Agilent was thinking about discontinuing support on? (remember that thread a while ago?) I don't know about the current (it seems like I remember 9-10A max), but I know you could dial in any voltage and frequency (DC-500Hz??) and it

Joe, The situation which you describe is absolutely a failure. If you doubt this (and I am not trying to be flip) try using two fingers (OF THE SAME HAND!) instead of the meter. This is what your customers might experience. If you have that much capacitance to hold a charge at that level after

Test Levels for Surge in Industrial Locations

2001-05-11 Thread Bouse, John
Hello group, Has anyone dealt with the industrial EMC test requirements for the European Union? In particular, EN 61326 (EMC requirements for Electrical Equipment for Measurement, Control and Laboratory Use) specifies surge test levels of 1 kV line-to-line and 2 kV line-to-ground.

Martin, I use UL 1950 and in clause 2.1.10, which covers the same requirement, it specifically states that the test be conducted with the power switch in both positions on and off. I feel the NRTL is correct and your equipment does present a hazard. You either need to move the capacitors after
