Gentleman,
Recently, I installed SPI driver v3.0 (Paul C.) on my system. It works, but
I can't run my emc2 afterwards. Help would be appreciated.
I used rutex drives R2010 to run my machine with emc2.
Below is the error message and debug information from emc2:

The "easy" way is to use Ubuntu 6.06, because otherwise you must build
your own real-time kernel and emc packages---the emc developers do not
provide packages for 7.04.

Hello Budi,
Are you trying to run EMC without SPI after using the SPI diver, or run
EMC with SPI at the same time?
Does anyone know if the drivers can be loaded at the same time? I would
think that at least the EMC parallel port driver and the SPI parallel
port would need to be mapped to differen

Has anyone drawn up a probe of the sort one could mount in the spindle collet,
hook up to emc so that when contact has been achieved, emc records the
location?
And, assuming this has been done, has the scanner routine to do this already
been written too?

IIRC emc2 has a very nice probing routine that will do what you want
and log the results.
The problem, of course, is a decent probe. I would recommend trying
to make a Renishaw type probe ... ie. 3 points in a triangle
where the probe can lift off (disconnect) any single node to trigg

It's deceptively simple, but it actually works very well and is very
repeatable.
It only triggers in the downward motion of the spindle.
The "Renishaw type" probe that Dave mentioned can trigger from a sideways
mot
I have such a probe sold by MAXNC for a rather expensive price. Having
seen it, I think one could be made based on 4 micro switches arranged
round a 1/4" ball end of a probe in gimbals or on small springs at its
midpoint and a 1/16 or 1/32 ball on the lower end.
