Newb compile question..
I did a git clone to a local directory emc-dev as per the example in the
online manual.
So now I have clone of the online repository on my PC. I do an "sudo
apt-get remove emc2" to remove my existing live CD install of Hardy
Heron EMC2.
I run the compile as per the

You can use Engineers' Blue in two ways, but most economical is
transfer-on not rub-off. I am not sure there is

If you want to find interference in tight fits like tapers, that will
probably work, but it is no good for

Wikipedia on the subject of "Engineer's Blue" points out that in the
US both marking-out fluid and the paste are called "Engineer's blue"

No USB? USB joypads are pretty trivial to set up (even I managed)

I've been in the process of setting up a new machine and have been
running into a "Following Error" while jogging and while running
g-code. After doing some experimentation with the FERROR and
MIN_FERROR variables, and reproducing the situation with the halscope
running, I think I have an understan

thought I'd try it. No dice, you can get them to work but it seems to
entail recompiling the kernel etc etc. I read on here of people using a

I believe the optimum stuff is "Stuart's Micrometer Blue" as that is
specifically designed for the job of scraping-in machine slides.
It is densely pigmented grease and about as messy as that

The optimum stuff is Prussian Blue, but it is the messiset stuff in the

Actually, good point. You can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear.
Far better to buy a proper machine tool to convert, then when you have
finished you can sell the toy lathe.

Are you sure it is thicker? Mine just had more paint on the bearing
surface for the hold-down plates at that end

But seriously, there really should be some decent space available that
isn't located on top of ice!

used to go full tilt for 10 years and then there would be a few years of

When I checked my (cheap, chinese) lathe I found that each part of the
saddle had been scraped-in to its bed way, but not so that they both
touched simultaneously.

Yes, I have my stuff in separate hal files and linked in too like the joystick
pendant..but I've changed values in my ini file too that I just don't want to
risk it. The ini and hal files are pretty natural for me to edit directly
anyway and I like knowing emc under the hood.
