[Emc-users] my uplink bandwidth sucks

I see someone is watching the emc-at-work.ogg, which explains why the leds on the switch are going steadily. I wish I did have more upload bandwidth but this is a verizon circuit. Sorry about that, whoever you are at an rr.com address. Boring movie ain't it. ;-) -- Cheers, Gene "There are f

Hello, I made a new try. First, I have installed an unpatched Ubuntu 8.04 LTS (64bit). This works, without errors! In next step I installed EMC2 (by using the script). But my pc did not start up with the RTAI- Kernel: -

Don't forget the latency of the opto couplers in the breakout boards... That messed me up once. They were slow and the speed was high... At a certain range VERY bizarre inaccuracies started to creep in and it took me some time to figure out why the heck things went the way they did. Needless to say

Let's take the case of a 5i20 board running hostmot2. hostmot2 uses a DDS algorithm and tracks the low 16 bits of the step count. Every servo cycle emc reads the step count from the board then sends a new frequency command to the board. hostmot2 uses a DDS algorithm based on a 33MHz clock. This

With hardware step generators like the Mesa and Pico, emc2 sends a "desired step frequency" command every millisecond or so (and reads from the hardware how many steps it's actually taken since last time). The step signals are generated on the 5i20 or similar, at the requested frequency, and se

Hello, When using EMC2 with stepper motors and software generated steps the highest step rate seems to be limited by the computer latency. We have a clear formula to calculate that rate based on the stepper driver requirements and the computer latency. How do we calculate the highest step rate
