You don't have to be connected to Internet for Draftsight, it gives you a
'proxy error warning something', just press OK and you're good!

Have you looked at gCNCCAM? I normally use qCAD to generate my part,
then gCNCCAM to turn it into gcode. gCNCCAM will automatically generate
multiple passes to handle deeper cuts than one Z-axis pass allows! You
just specify Z-axis depth of cut and target (final) depth and gCNCCAM

Given that gcadcam shows no signs of activity since 2008, it doesn't
seem too surprising that it is difficult to compile with current libraries.
Has anybody played with freecad? It seems to be under very active
development and looks like somebody plans to work on cam for it.

I didn't recompile gCNCCAM, I just loaded the .deb file and ran that.
Worked fine on my system.
Good Luck!

You might want to try that. :-)
I had everything but the .doc file for that library already. It didn't
seem to help. Neither did installing

I didn't see a .deb of the newer version 4.4.2. Did you find one?
Cheers, Gene

In answer to your question, NO, I have not found a built version of
gCNCCAM 4.4.2. I am running the 4.4.1 version pointed to in the
Sourceforge page for gCNCCAM. It IS old, but does what I need it to, so
I'm not too upset it isn't currently maintained! Heck, I'm not well
maintained

I had the Draftsight registration issue, too. I also like to be able to do CAD
drawing on my laptop, without an internet connection.
I got QCAD for my mac. Seems to work; it works better than my knowledge of CAD
2D drawing is, anyway!
If Draftsight is giving their software away, why

Gene;
QCad may be ok for 2d stuff, but making physical parts out of the raw
material is 3d work. Toss in that nothing on this planet can takes its
output and make cgode out of it and my interest takes a running swan dive
off the 3 meter board lands in a painful belly flop.

I have downloaded DraftSight and registered it. However, I also have a

never had a problem with registering for their products and they are
very reputable in the CAD industry. Also, both products work quite well
