Here's the table of flash exposure compensation applied with the EOS1n

Its tab-delimited (or at least is was when I posted it!).

You really need to try it to appreciate how big a lens it really is.
Plus you've got to pay for 77mm diameter filter

The biggest I've had done (and sold) from Superia 800 is 20x

In the UK they are usually around 3500 UKP and given US prices usually
equate US$ prices, you've probably found a reasonably priced one. Depends

The set of Lithium AAs I fed my EOS1nHS with on 2nd November have expired.
That's a mere 33 rolls, about three times what I was getting with Alkaline

switch to NiMH and possibly two chargers so I can recharge all 8 batterie

The most interesting part of the Canon webpage is the statement "A

I've created a new folder in the "files" section on eGroups and uploaded a

I guess figure skaters move somewhat more predictably than hockey
players!

Just to continue this thread a little - I've now had some shots printed
taken with the 550EX on my EOS1n after last Saturday's ice hockey game.
The first ones were taken under fairly bright conditions and with -1 stop
set on the flash, the fill effect is perfect (so subtle you can hardly
tell). T

Very interested in your use of the D30 for sports photography because I

Have I made a big mistake in getting a 550EX for use with my EOS1n? The
specs on the UK website suggest it doesn't even offer A-TTL. It hasn't
arrived yet, so I've not had chance to read through the manual. Will I be
able to apply flash exposure compensation? Can I bracket?

Thye D30 body has already dropped at least 400 UKP since its launch - the

so much time scanning and cleaning (digitally) my negatives that a switch

I've just bought this lens as a sort of replacement for my Minolta MD

I'm after a used one at the moment for my sports (mostly ice hockey)
coverage, to use alongside my 300/2.
