I'd hoped to double the range, keep the weight roughly the same, and not
having to pay more than around $2,000 to get there. That means doubling
the power density (W/ft3), doubling the W/#, and keeping the $/W roughly
the same.
You'll probably need to go with Lithium to double your range.

As others have said, 12v marine batteries are only a quick-n-dirty
solution. They barely work as EV batteries. They are cheap initially,
but performance is poor, and life is short.
So I've learned.
With any type of battery, the range is simply a function of how many

I dont known of any price comparable lithium battery that will give the
1000+ amps that my Sears PM-1 battery can deliver.
It all depends on what you want your battery to do. High current output,
battery cycles etc.
I struck a deal with my local Sears Auto store
A Marine/RV battery is not a 'traction' battery and will have a very short
life in an EV application.
We are at the point where you won't be saving any money by using lead
instead of lithium.

I don't know about Sam's Club, but in several Wal-Marts I have only been
able to find starting batteries or the Marine/RV batteries. These batteries
are a poor starting battery and an even worse 'imitation' deep cycle
battery. I had one in an RV. It was pretty worthless.

You may want to consider NEW Volt Li-ion battery packs, not from a junkie
with unknown capacity, and all the accessories needed including a BMS with
wire harness.

This conversion will not be used for much but local errands, so I am not
investing in a long term future EV. Just want to get it rolling again.
