Your Exchange server is obviously in a dire situation. It seems to be
randomly dropping X's and I's. Who knows what ramifications this might
have?!?!
Call PSS immediately.

What prompted the change. Normally, these things don't just break without
any user intervention.

We have a very odd situation, which to summarize, comes down to:
Windows 95B clients running Outlook 2000 connecting to an Exchange 2000
server lose permissions to their own Exchange mailbox after viewing
another user's shared mailbox (Calendar, Contacts, etc.)
This does not happen with every cli
It's OK.
You don't have to do a thing. No fix required.

Here's a better idea:
Since you have to punch numerous holes in your firewall in order to
accomplish this task, and since these numerous holes will pretty much render
your firewall useless, just save yourself some trouble.
Remove the firewall from the equation completely and send it to me.
It is true that any file based scanner can cause a plethora of problems on
an Exchange server. IS crashes, 1018 errors, etc., But _personally_ I have
only witnessed ServerProtect BSOD an Exchange 5.5 box. I have seen other
AVs do it to previous versions of Exchange.

Outlook Express has builtin Hotmail account wizard. I believe the newer
versions of Outlook also have them.

Sure Mr. Ely flew off the handle. I think he did so because early responses
from Mr. Aborzfard appeared to be argumentative and condescending. I
interpreted them the same way. E-mail is rather one-dimensional; it doesn't
convey smiles, tongues in cheeks, winks, nods or other nonverbal clues.

You can also use directory import to modify the limits.
By the way, you should reconsider your prohibit send and receive limit and
make it very big. The reason is that it doesn't particularly penalize the

Ok, so the plan would be:
-Stop Exch services.
-Move the priv.edb manually
-Recreate the raid with more disks
-Copy priv.edb.back
(-Run optimizer?)
-Start Exch services
Is it that easy? Do I have to use the same drive letter as before, or can
optimizer handle that?
Thanks for all help,
Eirik O.

I have to deal with the likes of ignorance at my client sites. I'm
certainly NOT going to accept what they say and leave it at that. I am a
