We are in process of implementing Exchange 2010 and plan to use
Microsoft TMG for OWA/Active Sync access.
We are using a Checkpoint firewall between Internet and internal
network. The Checkpoint firewall has three interfaces (one in DMZ, one
in internal network, and one connecting to Internet).
If all of your 2003 servers are gone, just nuke it.

Thank you sir, the 2003 servers are long gone. Glad to hear I was close to
being right, I thought that was 2003 legacy.

Sorry to come back to this late.
So as I have some public folders on the 2007 box which are not getting updated
anymore do I
1.add them back in to replication (by using AddReplicaToPFRecursive on the
2010 server)
2.wait for the item counts to get back in sync
3.use
We have ours in the DMZ, with 2 NICs; 1 internal, 1 external. I also just
recently setup the OWA/Activesync rules, if you need any info.

If the TMG server is going to be domain joined, then I think the 1 leg in the
DMZ and 1 leg in the internal network makes sense.
However some places do prefer existing firewall infrastructure to be the sole
point where traffic is allowed; and if the TMG box isn't domain joined there

I've definitely had it working in the past (in fact the article references
mentions that I wrote about it in Feb 2010). I've not tried lately though.

I'd always suggest TouchDown on Android for a solid ActiveSync client. The
feature support on Android is too scattered otherwise. As I understand it, it
isn't Exchange that doesn't support it, it's Motorola's implementation of the
protocol.

Let's not confuse Exchange Server ActiveSync vs. an ActiveSync implementation.
Apple, various Android OEMs, Touchdown, etc. - all of these are ActiveSync
licensees. Which parts of the spec they choose to implement are completely up
to them.
Exchange Server ActiveSync supports it.
