I experienced something strange:
When I set the MOZILLA_HOME variable to Netscape's installation directory, it
becomes unusuable for offline use because it constantly tries to access a DNS
server. Unsetting the variable removes that prob.
Trouble is that without that variable Netscape doesn't

tarball I was creating stopped just shy of 2GB with some write error...
Is this 2GB file size a limitation on 'tar' or on the filesystem?

Yes, sure I can do my cd using mkisofs -x or -m options, and using a little
tmp space.
But I woult do this:
1. cd /dos [VFAT with about 1Gb free)
2. echo ciao tmp.img
3. losetup /dev/loop0

Canada I qualify under their encryptions laws to get it. The file was

If your going to run an ftp server you should have /home/ftp on it's own
partition. That partition should be on the scsi drive if possible (drive
speed being better). Swap on the faster drive might be nice as well.
