To bypass the problem use the command line wget -c to ftp with,

Aaron,
If you want to compile a kernel as an rpm binary then you only need to get the
source rpm. You need to look in the SRPMS directory on one of the mirrors. I
think one of the latest is
kernel-2.2.13-3mdk.src.rpm
Mark
If you want to compile a custom kernel, you're better to download the
source directly from www.kernel.org. The Mandrake source rpms have a lot
of extra patches included and you might pull out your hair while compiling
it ;-)
Get the latest kernel in .tar.bz2 format, do:
bunzip2 kernel*
tar xvf k
I am running mdk 6.0 and have updated my kernel to 2.2.9-27mdk. I want
to compile a more customized kernel so I went to download the source and
there are several rpms for the kernel. I know I need the source and headers
rpm but do I need the rest of them, like boot, smp, fb, ibcs and pcmcia. I
hmm. what security risks? Forgive me if I'm really stupid.
We allow no anonymous ftp. we allow no ftp at all not from our local
net. We allow no telnet. we allow no ssh. we allow no shell. we allow no
talk. only that user can write into that directory.
let me know. thanks.

No, it's not. You wouldn't grant write access to the Apache home directory to

2.2.9-11 has some known bugs...

I am experiencing the same problem w/ a similar PPro box using SCSI and IDE

rpm -i The reason you'd use rpm -i instead of rpm
-u is that if you install it ALONGSIDE your existing
kernel, if there's a problem you can always delete the
"new" kernel and switch back to the old one.
John
Heres a question. Somehow my /boot/map file is corrupted or wrong. Now lilo
wont boot any of my os'es. I run a scsi system and have seemed to have not made
a rescue disket. How can I fix this?

hi,,
i just downloaded all gnome packets + fnlib, imlib, gtk+ from the cooker
and updated my mandrake 6.0. well, it's not very stable anymore. :-(
gnomecc segfaults
when called with accessed thru "config background image". the
gnome-nameserver (wha

I'll give this a shot tonight on my Mandrake 6.0 box which has a 3C905b-TX
card. What kind of box were you transferring from?

installed Mandrake 6 which seemed to work fine until I tried to ftp a 128Mb file
from another server to the new install box where networking locked up.
Tried rcp and ftp client and had the same problems, small files transfer fine
large ones lock networking. The FTP of large files works

Get 2.2.13-2mdk from cooker or cassini
(http://www.linux-mandrake.com/cooker
Anyone know where I can find an RPM of kernel 2.2.12? I compiled my
own yesterday, but I'm having some problems that I'm hoping will go
away by using a pre-compiled kernel.
Primarily, my on-board sound won't work anymore (it DID work in
2.2.9-27mdk) and I'm having some other "wierdness" go on wit
