ATI Rage LT Pro (AGP2x) and ESS M2EM PCI Sound
Are these well supported under linux? I also want to set these up under
vmware... I assume if they work under linux then it'll be ok under vmware?

When I try to use linuxconf to install a new kernel image it's
telling me that my root partition (/dev/hda1) is either not a valid
partition or not a "linux" partition. What gives? Yes - editing lilo
worked fine...

In vmware, on a 475 mhz machine, NT 4.0 boots in about a minute.

It's a routine check. All your Linux partitions will get this check
after they've been mounted x number of times. It checks for
fragmentation and other disk ailments and attempts to correct the
situation.

After I figured out they were not on by default I tried to enable then
using xfs. I went to /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/ttfonts/ and ran
'ttmkfdir -o fonts.scale'. Then I used mkfontdir to create the
fonts.dir file. I
This works for me but your mileage may vary. Make sure you only have
reference to iso-8559-1 fonts in your fonts.dir file by deleting all the
others. Then make sure the number at the beginning of the file
represents only the number of fonts actually in the file.
