Sendmail and Postfix cannot and will not install and work on the same
system at the same time. They fight one another. You will first have to
uninstall Postfix altogether, and then install Sendmail. If you're running
Mdk 7.2 I strongly suggest using sendmail-8.9.3-20 or sendmail-8.10.x
Up until a few minutes ago, when I booted my system, kdm would give me an
option of several windows managers at login time, including KDE (my default)
and gnome.
I just installed Helix gnome via the automated installer, and selected the
option to keep my current login manager (eg kdm). Now, on
KDM gets it's list of windowmanagers from the files in /etc/X11/wmsession.d
It sounds like you just need to make a new gnome entry in this directory. The format
of these is pretty
simple, just copy one of the others and change the name= and exec= lines to point to
the new gnome
installation.
Mandrake has a good partitioning tool already installed on the system
called Disdrake. This one will see the ReiserFS partitions and allow you
to do what ever work is needed on your drive.

thanks for the suggestion, but I'm afraid it didn't work. In fact, xfs
is started at boot time. After reading your e-mail, I tried restarting
xfs, but with no better result, just a little bit more of error
messages:

For a quick fix I'd suggest pmfirewall ... just download it, put it in
/usr/local/src, do a tar -xvzf, cd to the pmfirewall directory and do a
# sh i
I'll second the suggestion of pmfirewall. It's very easy to set up and does
exactly what it's supposed to do.
