Dear LM Friends
I'm trying to install sane-1.04-frontend and
backend which I downloaded from cooker, but encountering all sort of dependency
problems and basically going round in circles... I have LM7.2 with the 2.2
kernel which I have not changed.

I just install a HP 9350i (used to have a Memorex
1622) and it has totallymessed up my 7.2.During the boot, it hangs for
about 5 minutes during the mnt drives section(with or without a cd
init). When I access the cd in the mnt directory after it

it works fine all the time. Suggest that you fire up the
mixer and see what the settings are when the sound goes off
and see if changing any of them has an effect.

I forgot to answer the question about the icons on the pop-up menus
attached to the XFCE panel. I just simply ignore the icons altogether
and let XFCE use its default icon symbol.

How many times haven't we run into an "undefined symbol" problem?
Here is another one... ;-)
This all happens when i try to startkde. I have removed all old kde- and
qt packages/directories and installed from fresh qt-2.2.4 and kde 2.1

At one time I knew the answer to this question but not anymore.
When doing a rpm -ivh or -Uvh with or without --nodeps or --force
I occasionally get the ;
"directory not empty, cannot remove " messages.
Ususally it doesn't appear to have any effect on things and I have
