Hello Mandrake..
I'm having a strange issue with mounting my local files systems under 2.4.x and
the latest version of e2fsprogs.
Well i'm guessing that you can't connect to the x server because it's not

So there's a package that has to be installed, and then you have to start the
server with service: "service xfs start" (as root).

Don't worry about Reiser and booting; Mandrake sets up a ramdisk. It's
all done automatically during the install. If anything, I'd look into the

frequent gotcha reported on this list. No problem with mdk 7.2 though.

This was answered on the Caldera list earlier this month(maybe). It's a drive

I've got an intereseting one, where after reading fonts in from Windows,

I'm getting ready to do a Mandrake 8.0 install on my notebook with just /and
swap partitions and want to use Reiser. When you pick Reiser during install that
sets it up as modular, right? Which means I won't be able to boot from my hard
drive with just a / and swap, right? I've been following the

This is becoming a FAQ :-) Mandrake broke the PS/2 code because their
developers had weird keyboards with empty PS/2 ports that were causing
everything to lock up during boot time since they weren't using those
ports. So they disabled it.
Some folks have been able to get it to work, but most

I have a CD-ROM server which has 2 SCSI cards. The first has

Dear Klar and friends:
My thanks to a fellow list member for this.
Someone wrote me to tell me how to do it.
You have to activate xscreensaver by typing in the console:
xscreensaver-demo
This activates the screensaver demon. Now select your screensaver. Close
console. Go to KDE Control Center

There are serious problems with fonts in LM8.0. This is *very* noticeable in
KDE for instance. The optimisations they used in compiling libtype1.a screwed
up alot of things, for instance. To fix your problem check out what I already

Hi,
You should be able to use the reiserfs module even when your root fs is on a
reiser partition. To do so, you need an "initrd" image with the resier fs
module inside. To create the initrd image, use "mkinitrd", after ensuring
that the reiser module is in the /etc/modules.conf file. Add the ini
