Hi Everyone,,
I have a question I have seen asked a couple of times, but never answered..
When compiling a kernel,
Where can I get a list of what is selected in the standard kernel??
In other words,, I'd love to start with the defaut mdk kernel options and
then chop and change from there..
I am using Mandrake 7.2 and have a SoundBlaster audio PCI64V, which
Mandrake's hardware detection picks up as a Ensonic ES1370 (AudioPCI).
As far as I can tell from the documentation should support midi.
Nevertheless, I get the following error report when I try to run
playmidi

Good question... I'd love to know this as well...
In mandrake 7.2 it was stored in /usr/doc/kernel[something-or-other].
But in 8.0 I can't find it!
Any idea's anyone?

Cool!. Now, how can this file be used as the input to 'make config' or

Also, is it even likely that this file could be inconsistant with a kernel

Hi all.
I have to use Linux in text mode and actually, I like
all Unix variants in text mode.
But with Linux-Mandrake 8.0, I have a small but
important problem in text mode. My screen is

The recommendation is that you change /etc/inittab to default runlevel of 3
and startx from console, Some kind of bug
I have also heard that if you create a file called desktop in
/etc/sysconfig and put the line DESKTOP=GNOME that this will enable gdm
assuming have Gnome installed. Then you can run OpenGL apps from there
without issue from runlevel 5. So I've heard.

I have this in my .bash_profile, and ~/bin is the first thing in my path.

if [ -d ~/bin ] ; then
PATH=~/bin:${PATH}

Usually, do find out which package provided a file you can do 1 or 2 things...
1) `rpm -qf /path/filename` will display the package that created that
file
2) rpmfind.net's search is pretty good about letting you search for a file to
see which packages provide it
