Hello
I upgraded to kernel 2.4.18-8.2 recently and
discovered that it does not manage swap properly. All kernel messages seem
correct on boot up but it just doesn't work. Does anyone know a workaround for
this or perhaps there is a script that gets malconfigured on rpm installation of

I am still trying to get harddrake to see my sound cards. lspcidrake
sees it, the modules load ok but nothing in harddrake about any sound
cards. BTW, my sounds card is sharing a irq (11) with 2 ethernet cards
and a scsi card...is this kosher?
anyone know the syntax to change the irq for the so
That's it guys...thanks. the ulimit command only affected the root
user, not the other users. very odd file size limit...100MB.

For a pleasantly silent KDE, the trick is in sound server settings/sound I/O
(KDE Control Center).
Cheers,

Want t
Open kcontrol. Under Window Behaviour you will find settings for Xinerama.

My understanding is that KDE is not currently fully xinerama aware. One of
the features for 3.1 is to enhance this. You can see who is working on this
as well as get status at
http://developer.kde.org/development-versions/kde-3.1-features.html
There was also a brief discussion about xinerama and
I'm at my wits end regarding kde and xinerama.
I've got the two heads running just fine.
I've got the virtual desktop running under a single
KDE invocation (KDE-2.2.2) so I can slide a window
across screens.
But there is some very annoying behaviour that I can't seem
to rid myself of.

Hello,
Can any of you recommend a good replacement for Microsoft
Exchange? I have been eyeing
Samsung Contact (OpenMail based), especially because it would support Outlook
users (enterprise calendar, delegates, contacts, web access, etc) in our mainly
MS environment. Obviously somethi
The file you're looking for is: /etc/security/limits.conf
There is a line in there that limits file size. Just increase it as needed.
I do not recommend commenting it out, doing so could jepordize your system.

Well
I checked the temp directory for this app and the files are being
truncated at exactly 100MB. So it seems that my file size limit is
100MB. Where do I change this for the system?

I am running 8.2 and using reiserfs. I use a P2P application for
(legal) file sharing.
I am having a problem with my app but it points to the osit happens
at the same time, all the time. At the exact same point of trying to
write a 136 (approx) MB file, I get that error and the app quits.
On an old sound blaster type card I had once, there were some pins for
attaching the motherboard speaker output direct to the sound card. For
louder beeps I guess!
