Look at /etc/services. You'll see the service name, a number and then either
tcp or udp. The number is the port the service is listening on.

What kernel version are you running? There's an off chance you might
need to add some swap space, but it's not absolutely nec
the new memory should be recognized upon reboot; you shouldn't
have to do anything at all.
