I know of at least 2 free ssh clients for Windows - puTTY and Terra
Term. Even the "official" SSH client doesn't cost $2000 (US), AFAIK. Who
told you that figure?

Let's see, I use telnet to test and debug daemons. I also use it to
configure non-unix devices, such as printer servers which only
communicate with telnet.
Telnet is also useful when talking to winblows boxes, etc.

Well, I'm answering my own question...
The solution is to upgrade to version 1.2.2-15 mkd, available
from rpmfind; 1.2.2-13 seems to be honked.
