I guess a lot of people with film scanners end up printing what they scan.
Maybe some even end up with the photos in an album sort of format. So
hopefully I won't be flamed out
the scans together,Does/will this work
as well as
scanning the entire image?

Hi!
Just want to add that Minolta Dimage Scan Multi Pro also has a real 3200 PPI
resolution for 120 (MF) film, which is almost a three times improvement over
older models.

Hi Ed!
Just a question, is the y-axis in the histograms linear or log?

someone explain to me in a few words how to work with a histogram
when scanning? I can see it in VueScan but I don´t know what to do with it,
because there are no sliders anyway...
Thanks in advance,

Hi!
I agree with everything said, but I prefer to use the neutral setting, which
I feel gives better whites. It would be nice to have Ed explain the
difference between the two settings.

Check http://www.vmware.com :-)
I use Vuescan (http://www.hamrick.com/vsm.html) for scanning from Linux),
VMWare is pretty useful for running Windows 95, 98, NT or 2000 under Linux.

I have a friend who has a IMac, and I tried to use Vuescan on his computer,
but it was unfortunately not very stable (in the version that was available
at that time). With the Linux version I had very little problems.

option from VueScan? It seems to have problems on most
scanners with CCD charge bleeding from overexposed pixels,
and it does more harm than good (in my opinion).
Is there any scanner that it seems to work well with?

To get over this error I need to reinstall the minolta software.
But after scanning another 6 films again I will get same error.
Environment: I am running Win 2k Minolta "Easy Scan Utility"
Any help will be welcome.

it may be reasonable
to apply some sharpening early in the process to compensate for this.
Looking forwards to comments, but please no flame war :-)

just quit it and the scanner works in spite of that.
Does anybody know how to get rid of this annoying driver-request?
Linux? Sorry, I couldn't help myself ;-) I suspect it is an OS
software problem. Does the Elite have a specific Win2K driver?

I presume what you mean Erik is to do sinle pas multiscanning at different

I have updated my page after correcting some issues Ed Hamrick has pointed out.
The problem was that my pictures corrected by SCARSE was done for Adobe RGB
while the original scans were done using sRGB.
