Yet another problem with transport toolbar is when you hit record button
(ie. activate hyperscribe).
Before you do this, remember that it's gonna start with tempo which is
burried deeply in hyperscribe menu,
not the one of your transport toolbar :(

Try the Lyrics menu: Update Hyphens
There was a bug in FinWin2004, I couldn't see any hyphens in some files with
autohyphens on, it's been fixed in 2004b update so maybe on Mac it's still
there...
good luck,

I'm with you Mark. In tightly spaced music it looks so much better to have
less space between left barline and accidental vs. left barline and

The other problem is that we (well, me at least :) need one more value in

I've bought RME HDSP9632 audio card. I'm getting terrible (over 2 sec.) MIDI

It had been all fine before I installed HDSP9632, and everything works with
other programs.
Same latency happens when I play my MIDI keyboard (Ro
as far as I can remember these should go in between.
It's a nightmare in Finale. Sometimes is easier to edit a PDF file.

David, of course you're right, that it is ambiguous
according to the middle-line stem reversal rule
(stems-down is _preferred_ anyway),
but IMO the majority rule, which applies primarily to
stem direction of chords, holds true also in this particular case.
Please note that Finale stems down also

* minimum distance from staff
* verse number

so that verses don't collide with notes nor they are too far.

Robert,
Does it mean your plugins are not free anymore?
I ask, because it is not clear from reading the license agreement in ReadMeWin.txt.
And what about the previous versions of Patterson Tools, can we still use them for
free?
As Patterson Beams is part of Finale bundle, has it got a license o

There is a known Finale2002/2003 PS printing bug, that makes PDFs so large.
Finale 2001 produces very small PS output (which means small PDFs)
Please, send a request for a fix to Coda.

Jari,
Have they fixed printing with OwnPS=0 option, which created so clean and small PS/PDF
output?
It was broken in Fin2002 forcing OwnPS=3 any time there was a crescendo wedge in the
score.
(i.e. practically always).
This bug fix alone would make it worth upgrading...

When you start numbering from the first full measure
(which seems the most logical, a pickup is just an upbeat to a full measure after all,
isn't it?)
just make double sure that you didn't forget to input apropriate rests in all silent
voices of the pickup,
so that every extracted part would cl
The only exception is when you want to put fermata above a half rest in 3/4
(or respectively above a dotted half rest in 4/4),
IF other instruments have similar rhythmic content at the same time.
e.g.
staff 1: [4][2r+fermata]
staff 2: [4][2+fermata]
staff 3: [4][2+fermata]

Syncopation is a special musical device for marking a stress of otherwise unaccented
beat,
and as it is not possible to put an accent on a rest, you cannot notate rests

So as long as in 4/4: [4][2][4] is right for syncopated rhythm,
[4][2r][4] just does not make any sense (however ma
The rule says: do not ever syncopate rests!
so
[8.r][16] is correct
[16][8.r] is wrong,
it should be
[16][16r][8r]
and in many cases
[8r][16r][16] makes things easier to read in orchestral context.
