There is a nice freeware from Pete Yandell called SimpleSynth. You can
access patches from any soundfonts or DLS files found on your system,
and it has a virtual input mode. Launch it, and any app using CoreMidi
will see it and add it to the list of midi outputs. An easy way to

Since Quicktime 5 you can use a soundfont file as a source for the Quicktime
Instruments feature. The files has to be put in the Extensions folder in the
Quicktime folder. Use the control panel to choose the file you want to play

You can use soundfonts directly with Quicktime, and that will work with any
version of Finale for Speaker playback. However, it is not possible as far
as I know to use sounds from several soundfonts for this, you need one
complete set.
