Word extensions in Finale are horribly erratic. Kind of following the
pattern of the entire application IYAM. Whether I use manual or
smart, they never have worked. I'm on FinMac 2k7 BTW.

MS Photo Editor won't open bitmapped pictures (on my XP system, at least).
Save the file from bmp to jpg first (try something other than Irfanview and see
whether yo get better results), and then use MS Photo Editor to save it as tif.

I got an email from MakeMusic today offering 2008 at a
lower price until May 31. I know offers like these

Hi all:
I know a lot of modern composers are on the list. I noticed that ERM
is now being distributed by Naxos USA, making a lot of their CDS much
more available. My personal favorite is a String Quartet by Roger
Rudenstein dealing with President Bush called The Nightmare of
Reason :)

Dunno. They better have them t-shirts ready. That is really the only reason
to upgrade. It's not like they'd add any features that are worth anything,
or fix any bugs.

if I start with a 600 dpi or better jpg I don't have this problem- but I
normally am reducing them as much as 75% within Finale, too-
so, as with all things, YMMV.

Half-voice is what I always used. Maybe without the hyphen (I tend

Well.
I spent a lot of time on this. Because Finale doesn't support
Unicode, many of the really great arrows in many fonts just are not

I got a survey email from Makemusic which stated there would be a winner

I find this to be the most interesting point (because Universal Editions
