It really is a shame because 2014 is a good release in many respects.
The Windows version has caused me relatively few problems, but this
smart copy one is enough to drive one batty.
I had hoped they had turned the corner after taking so much time to get
2014 out.

I had this problem a while ago, but I can't
remember the fix. Call tech support - they
sorted it out with me, no problems. We ran a
couple of tests and they had the answer. I just
tried digging through my old emails, but I can't find the relevant ones, sorry.

But, it isn't the case. String quartet; each instrument on its own channel (1
-4); and - out of nowhere - it starts playing from some other spot on top of
the current playback #$%^&*!

Hi Jari,
According to my conversation with one of the tech support people, MM is aware
of this bug.

This is a bit of a kludge. Human Playback applies swing to notes that are HALF
of whatever the denominator is in the time signature. So in 4/4, it will swing
8ths.
You would have to make the time signature 8/8 to get 16ths to swing. You can
make it 8/8 but display in 4/4 (I suggest only doing
How do you create a swing feel at the 16th note level for playback, instead of
at the 8th note level? I’m using Finale 2012 for Mac.
Thanks,
Chris

Yes, that's what I meant, and MM is aware of the bug, for whatever that is
worth.

In my case, I think the hairpins went to beat 4 (not literally to the
edge of the measure), but maybe that is what you mean. And it doesn't
screw up on all of them -- just some of them. But it makes such a mess
that you can't really use the tool.
I cannot recall whether this was broken at the
Hi Darcy,
If this works, that will be a considerable help. This is similar to what
happens when you click Finale Playback and another app is in front and you
can't stop the Finale playback until you bring Finale to the front again. I
will try this. Thank you, Darcy.

Hi Chuck,
I believe the trigger for the arrows not working in Speedy is when an autosave
is triggered while a different application is in the foreground. The solution
to this (and many other similar bugs in Fin2014) is to click in the menu bar.
This restores focus to Finale — something that is
It's so slow and crashes all the timemost unusable upgrade ever.
Back to 2012.

Never had these problems before:
In the middle of playback some staves get "stuck" and keep holding the same
note(s) until Finale is closed. Or, while playing, inexplicably starts to play
from another spot, on top of the current playback.
And BTW: is it possible to pre
Yes, there are bugs. The one you mention happens when the hairpins extend to
the end of the measure. It renders the Smart Find and Paste feature nearly
unusable. There are a number of other deeply annoying bugs - scrolling issues
that occur when Finale has been open for a while, making naviga
There are a bunch of bugs in the A version. That smart find and paste
is so messed up, it is practically unusable. Half the time, when
copying hairpins, some of them get wildly wrong coordinates in the
target measures, stretching them over 40 measures or something. And it
